Getting There

Island from the air There are direct flights to Male from the U.K. but many flights stop enroute so be sure to check before booking. Some flights leave from Gatwick and then fly to Manchester or visa-versa. Others stop in the Middle East for refuelling or a flight change. This might save you some money but can also be very tiring and frustrating.

If you arrive in Male after sunset you will probably be spending the night in a local airport hotel as the sea planes and dhonis (small ferry boats) do not travel after dark.

The cheapest way to get to Kuredu from Male is by dhoni but it can take between 4 and 5 _ hours. The sea plane takes 45 minutes and is much more fun with great views of the other resorts and islands on the way.

If you take the sea plane option be warned that your luggage will arrive several hours after you as it will be taken by boat. Only hand luggage is allowed on the sea plane so be sure to pack a few bits of clothing and toiletries to change into and freshen up on arrival.
